Age Policy

Who can play View Clash, how we ask, and what happens when a player is too young.

This document is not yet in force: the operator behind View Clash has not been published. It is here so you can read what is planned.

The minimum age

You must be 16 or older to play View Clash, as a guest or with an account, wherever you live — even where the law would let someone younger sign up to online services on their own.

View Clash is a game for a general audience, played with public statistics from YouTube videos. It is not made for, or marketed to, anyone under 16. If that is you, please don't play: we would rather you came back when you are 16.

This policy is part of the Terms of Service between you and View Clash, and goes with the Privacy Policy.

Why 16

Players chat with people they have never met, Premium is a paid subscription, and we have no way to ask for or check a parent's consent. So there is one age for everyone, whatever country you are in.

16 is at or above the age at which every country in the European Union, and the United Kingdom, lets young people agree for themselves to how an online service uses their personal data. So nobody who plays here needs a parent's consent for that.

How we ask

When you sign up with an email address, we ask you to confirm that you are 16 or older, and we take your word for it. We don't ask for ID, a photo, a selfie or a card, and we don't ask for or keep your date of birth.

Guests are not asked. The rule applies to them just the same, and a guest found to be under 16 is treated exactly like an account.

YouTube's age rules

Playing View Clash means agreeing to YouTube's Terms of Service as well (https://www.youtube.com/t/terms), so you must also meet the age rules those terms set for your country. They also expect anyone who is a minor where they live to have a parent's or guardian's permission. If that is you, show them this page.

If you are under 18

Most countries treat you as a minor until you are 18. View Clash is built with that in mind, for every player, whatever their age:

  • No advertising, and no profiles built for marketing.
  • Nothing about you is sold, or shared with anyone for marketing.
  • Other players see your display name, username, avatar and scores, and what you write in match chat. No other player ever sees your email address.
  • Nobody becomes your friend unless you accept their request, and only friends can invite you to a room or see whether you are online. A public room you host is listed for everyone, with your display name, while it waits for players.
  • Chat happens only with the players in your own match. There are no private messages.
  • You can ask us to delete your account and its data at any time, by writing to us through the contact form at viewclash.com/contact.

A parent or guardian can also ask us to close your account; the section for parents below explains how.

Chat and safety

Chat exists only inside a multiplayer match, between the players in it: not in lobbies, and nowhere else. A room holds 2 to 8 players, or up to 50 when its host is a streamer we have approved. A room is either private, joined with its code or link, or public and listed for anyone to join.

Messages are plain text of up to 200 characters: no pictures, no voice, and links cannot be clicked. How often anyone can send is limited, and every message is deleted after thirty days.

Blocking a player hides the two of you from each other in both directions: neither can find, befriend or invite the other, you drop off each other's leaderboards, and neither sees the other's messages in a match. Blocking does not stop someone who already has your room's code or link from joining that room; if that happens, open a new room. Account holders can block or report a player who is on their friends list.

Anyone — a guest, an account holder or a parent — can report a player by writing to us through the contact form at viewclash.com/contact with the player's name and, if possible, the room code. A person reads every report. Moderators can read a player's recent match chat, and do so only to deal with a report. They can suspend or close an account. Nobody is removed automatically.

Premium, and players under 18

You must be 18 or older, or the age of adulthood where you live if that is higher, to buy Premium yourself. If you are younger, ask a parent or guardian first: they are the one agreeing to pay, so they should make or approve the payment.

Premium is sold by Paddle, our reseller and the seller of record, and Paddle's Buyer Terms apply to the purchase (https://www.paddle.com/legal/buyer-terms).

If someone under 18 bought Premium without a parent's or guardian's permission, the parent or guardian can write to us through the contact form at viewclash.com/contact. We cancel the subscription and refund its most recent payment, and we won't argue about it.

We never ask players to get a parent to pay for them, and Premium never makes anyone win: it has the same questions and the same scoring.

When a player turns out to be under 16

If we learn that a guest or an account belongs to someone under 16 — from a report, from a parent, from something the player said, or in any other way — this is what happens:

  • We suspend it straight away: it can no longer play or chat, and it drops off the leaderboards.
  • If the account has an email address, we write to it to say what we did and why.
  • Within seven days we delete it, with its profile, games, statistics, chat messages, friends and blocks. If the player writes to us in that time to say we got it wrong, we look again before deleting anything, and lift the suspension if we were wrong.
  • If it had Premium, we cancel the subscription and refund its most recent payment.

Nothing here is automatic: a person looks at every case. We never ask anyone to send ID to prove their age.

Copies already in our backups can't be picked out one by one; they disappear as those backups expire, within fourteen days. After that we keep only a note of what we did and when, and the emails about it, so that we can show we acted, along with any payment records Paddle sent us, and event-log entries that no longer name the account and are deleted after 180 days.

For parents and guardians

If your child is under 16 and plays View Clash, write to us through the contact form at viewclash.com/contact. Tell us their display name or username, or the email address on their account. For a guest, the room code or roughly when they played helps us find them.

You don't need to send documents. We suspend the account as soon as we read your message, delete it within seven days as described above, and write back to you when it is done.

If your child is under 18 and you want their account closed for any other reason, write to the same address. We close it and delete its data in the same way, and tell your child at the account's email address.

If your child bought Premium without your permission, we cancel it and refund the most recent payment, as described above.
