In short
This page lists everything View Clash stores on your device, and the other companies whose files or code its pages load.
What is stored is short: the cookie that keeps you signed in, and a second one if you untick 'Remember me'; cookies that protect the sign-in links we email you; a cookie with your interface language; and your sound setting. All of them are set by View Clash itself, not by another company. Each is either strictly necessary for the game you came to play, or only remembers a choice you made. That is why there is no cookie banner.
There are no advertising cookies, no analytics or tracking cookies, and no social-media plug-ins or tracking pixels. If you only read — the home page, the game pages, the leaderboards, these documents — no cookie is set and nothing is saved in your browser's storage.
The sign-in cookie
- Name: sb-db-auth-token. When its contents are too long for one cookie, it is split into sb-db-auth-token.0, sb-db-auth-token.1 and so on.
- Set by: View Clash itself (a first-party cookie). Other websites cannot read it.
- What it holds: the tokens that prove who you are, and your account's basic details — its identifier, the interface language you picked, if any, and, for an account, your email address, plus the profile details Google passed on if you signed in with Google.
- What it is for: keeping you signed in, as a guest or with an account, from page to page and from one visit to the next, so that your games, scores and settings are yours. It is also how your daily free games are counted.
- How long it lasts: 400 days from the last time it was renewed. It is renewed about once an hour while you use View Clash, and on your first visit after a break, so it lasts until you log out, clear it, or stay away for 400 days.
- When it is set: when you sign up, log in, or open a sign-in link we emailed you. For a guest, as soon as you press Play, create or join a room, follow a room link, or open the channel search when setting up a game. Opening a page, including Join and Create Room, sets nothing.
- Strictly necessary: yes. Nobody can be signed in without it, and it is how free play is kept to a set number of games a day.
If you untick 'Remember me' when you log in, the sign-in cookie has no expiry date and ends when you close your browser, and every renewal keeps it that way.
The 'Remember me' cookie
- Name: vc_session_only
- Set by: View Clash itself (a first-party cookie).
- What it holds: '1', and nothing else.
- What it is for: remembering that you unticked 'Remember me', so that each renewal of the sign-in cookie also ends when you close your browser.
- How long it lasts: until you close your browser, or log out.
- When it is set: only when you log in with 'Remember me' unticked.
- Strictly necessary: yes. It carries out a choice you made about your sign-in.
Sign-in link cookies
- Names: sb-db-auth-token-code-verifier, sb-db-auth-token-flow-<id>-code-verifier (up to five at a time) and sb-db-auth-token-flows-code-verifier.
- Set by: View Clash itself (first-party cookies).
- What they hold: a random value for each sign-in you have started, and a list of the ones still waiting to be finished.
- What they are for: when you open the link we email to confirm your address, or come back from signing in with Google, they prove the link is being opened in the browser that asked for it. A link someone else gets hold of cannot sign them in as you.
- How long they last: deleted as soon as the link is used. If it never is, or you open it in a different browser, they stay for up to 400 days.
- When they are set: when you sign up, ask for the confirmation email again, or start signing in with Google. Password-reset links do not use them.
- Strictly necessary: yes. They are part of keeping sign-in secure.
The language cookie
- Name: vc_locale
- Set by: View Clash itself (a first-party cookie).
- What it holds: the code of the interface language you chose, and nothing else.
- What it is for: showing View Clash in that language on every page without putting the language in the page address, so switching language never interrupts a game.
- How long it lasts: one year from when it was last set.
- When it is set: only when you pick a language, or when you log in and the language saved with your account is brought back.
- Strictly necessary: not for the game to work — without it you see the default language. It is set only when you choose, and only to remember that choice, so it is not asked about separately.
If you are signed in, the same choice is also saved with your account, so it follows you to the next device you log in on. That copy is kept on our side, not on your device.
The sound setting
- Name: vc-sound
- Kept in: your browser's local storage for View Clash. It is not a cookie, and it is never sent to us.
- What it holds: 'on' or 'off'.
- What it is for: one sound switch for every round screen.
- How long it lasts: until you clear this site's data in your browser. It has no expiry date.
- When it is set: only when you tap the sound switch during a game.
- Strictly necessary: not for the game to work — without it, sound is on. It is set only when you tap the switch, and only to remember that choice.
Nothing else is kept
View Clash keeps nothing else on your device: no other cookies, no session storage and no browser databases.
Each time a page opens, the software that handles sign-in checks that your browser allows local storage by writing a random test value and deleting it at once. Nothing is left behind.
Your browser's own cache keeps copies of files such as pictures, scripts and fonts for a while, so that pages load faster; the pictures in a round are kept for two minutes. That cache belongs to your browser, and View Clash does not read it.
Files and code from other companies
Some things on View Clash come from other companies' servers. Fetching them gives that company your IP address and basic details of your browser, as any web request does. None of them sets a cookie for View Clash's site.
- Paddle, our seller of record. On the Premium page, when you are signed in with an account or arrive through a Paddle payment link, your browser loads Paddle's script from cdn.paddle.com so that Subscribe can open the checkout. The script stores nothing on your device. The checkout window, on buy.paddle.com, opens only when you press Subscribe or follow a Paddle payment link; it is Paddle's, and what it stores is covered by Paddle's privacy notice, https://www.paddle.com/legal/privacy, and the cookie notice linked from it.
- Paddle Retain. Paddle's script can also load Paddle Retain, a tool for payment recovery and cancellation offers. View Clash does not use it and stops it from loading.
- Cloudflare Turnstile. A bot check from Cloudflare is built into the sign-up, log-in and password screens and the start of guest play, but it is switched off, so nothing from Cloudflare loads. This page will describe it before it is ever switched on.
- Google sign-in. Where it is offered and you choose it, you leave View Clash for Google's own sign-in page; what Google stores there is covered by Google's privacy policy.
- YouTube. Nothing. There is no YouTube player or embed: the video and channel pictures you see are fetched by our own server and passed on to you, so YouTube does not see your visit. A link to YouTube takes you there only if you follow it.
What is kept on our side instead
These are not stored on your device. The first three are tied to you through the sign-in cookie; the last is tied to your internet connection instead. The Privacy Policy describes each one and how long it is kept.
- Your sign-in sessions. For each device you are signed in on, as a guest too, the sign-in service records the IP address and browser that signed in, and keeps that record until you log out on that device or the account is deleted.
- Presence. While a page is open and you are signed in, as a guest too, your browser tells our server every twenty seconds that you are here, and whether you are in a lobby (with its room code) or a game. We keep one record per player and overwrite it each time. Friends see from it whether you are online, a public room you host stays listed on Join only while you are here, and room invitations reach you through it.
- Your games. Your games, answers and scores, and a log of events such as games started and finished, free games used and limits reached.
- The free-play count. To limit how many free games guests can take from one internet connection, we keep a salted, one-way hash of the connection's IP address for seven days, rather than the address itself.
Why there is no cookie banner
In the European Union (Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive), and under the equivalent rule in the United Kingdom, a website must ask before it stores or reads anything on your device, unless that is strictly necessary to provide a service you have asked for. Remembering a choice you have just made, such as your language, is allowed on the same basis. Everything on this page falls under that exception, so View Clash does not ask, and shows no banner.
The same rules still require us to tell you what is stored, and that is what this page is for.
If View Clash ever wants to store something that is not strictly necessary — analytics, advertising, or a tool that uses what it collects for its own purposes — it will ask you first, and this page will list it before it is used.
Removing or refusing them
Log out — in Settings, on your profile or in the account menu — removes the sign-in cookie from this device. Your other devices stay signed in.
A guest has no Log out. A guest's sign-in cookie goes only when you clear this site's cookies, and you lose the guest with it: its games and scores can no longer be reached from this browser. The guest itself is not deleted at that moment; a guest nobody uses for 180 days is deleted with its games. To keep them, sign up first; the guest becomes your account.
Clearing this site's data in your browser's settings removes everything listed here from that browser, including your language and sound settings.
You can also block cookies for View Clash in your browser. Signing in and playing will then not work, because the game cannot tell who is playing; these pages will still work.
There is no switch for each item, because each is either needed for the game to work or only remembers something you chose.
